Lightning Fields by mjveloso

Lightning Fields takes its title and inspiration from an installation in the New Mexico desert, for which artist Walter de Maria has set up a one mile by one kilometer grid of lightning rods, presumably creating a startling and beautiful effect during the spectacular storms that take place in desert environments. Its sound world is heavily influenced by the Alloy Orchestra, a trio of musicians that performs live music to accompany silent films, and by Tori Amos’s songĀ Space Dog. Relentless and explosive, my piece attempts to capture the sublime awe of nature, and the impulsive violence of electrical storms.
